About The Hopton Crown
At the bottom of Hopton Bank, as the road heads from the medieval village of Cleobury Mortimer towards the summit of Clee Hill and on to Ludlow, the Hopton Crown has offered food, drink and shelter to weary travellers for many centuries.
Having fallen into disrepair the Hopton Crown went into administration in 2017 but was purchased by local couple Andrew and Kate in January 2018 and is just emerging from an extensive refurbishment.
The Hopton Crown
The Hopton Crown now offers something for everyone – an excellent selection of local cask ales and ciders, fine wines and a restaurant offering fresh local ingredients cooked beautifully by our head chef Malcolm. The Hopton Crown also offers 12 en-suite bedrooms (including a luxury suite) and two self-contained two bedroom cottages in its grounds close to a babbling stream.
The Hopton Crown is situated on the A4117 between the medieval settlements of Cleobury Mortimer and Ludlow. It's only a 20 minute journey from the riverside town of Bewdley, Kidderminster or Bromsgrove. Only a little further away lie Birmingham, Wolverhampton or Telford.
The stunning Shropshire countryside is totally unspoilt and offer great opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing or simply enjoying the spectacular views from nearly every vantage point - especially from the top of Clee Hill.
The Hopton Crown offers its guests a historic bar, two dining rooms (including the historic Rent Room) and a large outside terrace.
Functions and Events
We love a good excuse for a party at the Hopton Crown, but we can also cater for other events as well. Our entire restaurant can be booked for private parties (plenty of advance notice required) and we can offer smaller groups the privacy of private dining in one of the dining areas. We also cater for wedding receptions. Just email email@example.com or call us for more details.
